Ready to Take Ownership of Your Life?

JT - Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we'll ever do

In the midst of the external chaos and pressures – the striving to do your best, the control, wearing masks of perfectionism and pleasing others – you have forgotten you are worthy.

You have forgotten you are Whole. Enough. Resilient. Loveable. Brave. Capable. Creative. Courageous and have needs.

Well that was my story anyway, until I decided to own my life, stop saying “yes” to things I wanted to say “no” to and be responsible and personally accountable during the past few years.

What is Power?

The word “power”comes from the Latin word “posse”, which means “be able”. There are many definitions of power, including –

  • “the ability or capacity to do something or act in a particular way,” or “the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events.” Google
  • “Ability to act or produce an effect.” Merriam-Webster Dictionary
  • “Capability of doing or accomplishing something.” Dictionary.com
  • “The ability or capacity to do something or act in a particular way.” Oxford Dictionaries

After reading these definitions on power, what does it mean to you? I also refer to power as is “power-with” not “power-over”. You have the power to create your life.

What is a Sovereign?

A Sovereign is –

What is Sovereignty?

There are many definitions of Sovereignty, including –

For me, I use the word sovereign in relation to my own life and know I am the owner of it and am aware of the things I can control and things I cannot.

Ready to Take Ownership of Your Life and BE the Sovereign of YOU?

We live in a world that is connected. We are connected to –

  • our selves (i.e. emotions, thoughts, memories, experiences etc.),
  • our friends and family,
  • the community (i.e. services, community organisations and schools),
  • technology, as well as
  • the environment (i.e. where we live and the greater world).

Every time we make a decision, choice or take action, we have an impact on each of these aspects. Some of us are aware and aligned with our choices and some of us are mis-aligned and can feel a sense of disconnection.

Sometimes (because of past experiences in our lives), we may not realise we have a choice. This is why it is important to develop self-awareness and presence. As we develop awareness, little by little, we start to come off auto-pilot, realise we do have choices and start to create a new way of being and can take ownership of our lives.

William H. Murray sums up ownership of your life in the following quote –

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
