Using Consistency to Navigate Through Life’s Challenges

During the past few weeks, I have been “under the weather” so to speak. I am grateful for having good health, so when I don’t it knocks me around. What are normally easy things for me to do (i.e. talking on the phone) were too much. Subsequently, I needed to be very mindful of my energy and what I was doing / being in order to get back to normal. So I went back to the basics and used consistency to navigate through the challenges.
3 Ways to Use Consistency to Navigate Through Life’s Challenges
Have you ever found yourself overwhelmed wondering how you’ll keep up with your goals? Whether it’s a starting a new business or decluttering a home or workspace, maintaining momentum can feel challenging. However as I have recently been reminded,: consistency is a powerful ally, especially when life doesn’t go as planned. Following are 3 ways to use consistency to navigate through life’s challenges –
1. Start Small –
When you’re feeling overwhelmed or sick, even getting out of bed can seem like a monumental task. The same principle applies to building consistency – start small. Instead of aiming to start a new business, decide on a business name or simply use your own name. Instead of doing a workshop, focus on getting your clothes ready the night before.
The right small, repeatable actions create neural pathways for success. Each tiny step you take can feel like a win, especially when your body is lacking energy. A five-minute meditation, a brief journal entry, or even just drinking water consistently – these are wins and ways you value yourself for where you currently are today (and yes each day is different).
2. Set Intentions –
Setting intentions each morning can really help with consistency and navigating through life’s challenges. Each morning, even if you’re finding it hard to get out of bed (like I was), you can create simple intentions for the day. These aren’t grand plans, but gentle, compassionate intentions. For example – it could be drinking 2 litres of water for the day, writing a paragraph in a journal or going for a walk on your lunch break.
3. Track Your Progress –
Tracking your progress helps with building consistency. This isn’t about judgment or criticising yourself. It’s about developing greater understanding about your adventure of life and seeing progress, even on the challenging days. One thing I was tracking throughout the past few weeks was my sleep and I knew I was getting better when I slept through that first night (and then the second) – I was very excited! However, you can track so many things in your career, business and/or life.
How Can You Build Consistency In Your Life?
What are some ways you can use consistency in your life? Feel free to share some ideas below. Would you like to grow consistency in your own life? If so, I have created some action cards and an e-journal to support you.
Action Cards are a great way to support you to become more consistent in your own life. By simplifying your day into manageable, intentional steps, they can transform overwhelming goals into achievable actions. Whether you’re transforming an illness, starting a business or pursuing a long-term dream, consistency is about showing up for you – imperfectly, compassionately, persistently.
Remember, the power of small steps can lead you to big changes as you transform your dreams in to reality.
